VITAE

Oliver Schaeffer founded ‚schaeffer . architecture and technology’ in Munich in 2010 und works as an architect with his team of freelance employers and kolleques since then.

Before he has gained international experience working with world class architects. After his graduation, he worked for Sir Michael Hopkins and Partner in London for three years. In 2004 he returned to Munich and designed the Kunsthalle Weishaupt in Ulm for Wöhr Heugenhauser Architects. Follwing the completion of this project, he proceeded to join Prof. Michael Schumacher as an assisstant Professor in Hannover. There he taught ‚Design and Construction’ a the Institute for Building Technology and is a founding member of the research group „Move – architecture in motion“.

Oliver Schaeffer, born 1975, has studied Architecture at Technical University Munich. He was scholarship holder of the German National Merrit Foundation and studied at the Design Technology Group oft he Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, USA from 1999 to 2000. His Diploma Thesis was awarded with the Contractworld Newcomer Award 2002, the VDI Prize 2001 and an acknoledgement for the Arch+ Award 2001.

STATEMENT

Schaeffer Architecture And Technology (SAAT) is a young design firm with a distinct interest in the design, development and execution of buildings at the highest level of craftsmanship.

Oliver Schaeffer has long standing experience in the professional design of demanding architectural projects – from concept design up to the finished building. He worked as an Architect for Sir Michael Hopkins & Partners in London and has designed the Kunsthalle Weishaupt for Munich practice WWA.

Based on this experience, SAAT consults with its clients to develope the optimum architectural solution in each case. The architecture of SAAT is good value, inspireing and sustainable. To reliably deliver quality, SAAT offers services for all stages of the project from early concept design up to completion. Under the direction of Oliver Schaeffer a strong project team is put together. SAAT then designs its projects in response to the concrete brief. SAAT listens carefully and uncovers hidden qualities, which are transformed into architectonic concepts. These are implemented through rigorous design and precise execution in constructing the actual building.
